Base-12
Base-12, also known as duodecimal, is a numeral system that uses twelve as its base. In this system, the digits range from 0 to 11, where the digits 10 and 11 are often represented by symbols like 'A' and 'B' or simply as '10' and '11'. This allows for more compact representation of numbers compared to the more common base-10 system.
One advantage of base-12 is its divisibility; twelve can be evenly divided by 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. This makes calculations involving fractions simpler. Base-12 has been used historically in various cultures, including the ancient Sumerians and Mayan civilizations, and is still seen today in measurements like a dozen eggs or a gross (144).
