Base Ecclesial Communities
Base Ecclesial Communities (BECs) are small, local groups of Christians that gather to share faith, support one another, and engage in social action. They often emerge in areas where traditional church structures are less accessible, allowing members to foster a sense of community and belonging. BECs emphasize participation, dialogue, and collective decision-making, reflecting the values of Vatican II.
These communities typically focus on issues relevant to their local context, such as poverty, education, and health care. By addressing these challenges, BECs aim to promote social justice and empower members to take an active role in their communities, embodying the teachings of Catholic Social Teaching.
