Basal cell carcinoma
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer, arising from the basal cells in the outer layer of the skin. It typically develops in areas exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, and ears. BCC usually appears as a small, shiny bump or a sore that doesn't heal, and it grows slowly over time.
Although BCC rarely spreads to other parts of the body, it can cause significant local damage if left untreated. Treatment options include surgical removal, topical medications, and radiation therapy, depending on the size and location of the tumor. Regular skin checks can help with early detection.
