Basal Cell Carcinoma
Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer, arising from the basal cells in the outer layer of the skin. It typically appears as a small, shiny bump or a sore that doesn't heal. BCC is usually caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or tanning beds.
Although BCC rarely spreads to other parts of the body, it can grow locally and damage surrounding tissues if left untreated. Early detection and treatment are important, and options include surgical removal, topical medications, or radiation therapy. Regular skin checks can help identify BCC early.
