Barton W. Stone
Barton W. Stone (1772-1844) was an American preacher and a key figure in the Second Great Awakening, a religious revival movement in the early 19th century. He is best known for founding the Christian Church and promoting the idea of Christian unity among different denominations. Stone emphasized the importance of personal faith and the authority of the Bible.
In 1804, Stone and several other ministers formed the Cane Ridge Revival, which became one of the largest camp meetings in American history. His teachings focused on the necessity of a personal relationship with God and the practice of baptism for believers. Stone's legacy continues to influence the Restoration Movement and various Christian denominations today.
