Barisan Revolusi Nasional
The Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) is a separatist group based in southern Thailand, primarily advocating for the rights of the Malay Muslim population in the region. Founded in the 1960s, the BRN seeks greater autonomy or independence for the provinces of Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat, where ethnic Malays are the majority. The group has been involved in various forms of resistance against the Thai government.
The BRN is part of a larger conflict in southern Thailand, which has seen violence and unrest for decades. The group has engaged in negotiations with the Thai government at times, aiming to address grievances related to cultural, political, and economic issues faced by the local population.
