Barbary Macaque
The Barbary Macaque is a species of monkey native to the mountainous regions of North Africa, particularly in Morocco and Algeria. It is the only species of macaque found outside of Asia and is known for its distinctive appearance, featuring a short tail, a robust body, and a thick coat of fur that varies in color from light brown to gray.
These primates are social animals, living in troops that can consist of up to 100 individuals. They primarily feed on fruits, leaves, and seeds, and are known for their intelligence and adaptability. The Barbary Macaque is currently listed as endangered due to habitat loss and illegal pet trade.
