Barbareño
Barbareño refers to a Native American group that originally inhabited the coastal region of present-day California, particularly around Santa Barbara. They were part of the larger Chumash cultural group and spoke the Barbareño language, which is now considered extinct. The Barbareño people lived in villages and relied on fishing, hunting, and gathering for their sustenance.
The Barbareño culture was rich in traditions, including basket weaving and the creation of intricate rock art. They were known for their skilled craftsmanship and deep connection to the land. Today, efforts are being made to revive and preserve their heritage through education and cultural programs.
