Banyankole
The Banyankole are an ethnic group primarily found in southwestern Uganda. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes traditional music, dance, and crafts. The Banyankole speak the Runyankore language, which is part of the Bantu language family. Their society is traditionally organized around clans, and cattle herding plays a significant role in their economy and social status.
Historically, the Banyankole were known for their pastoral lifestyle, raising Ankole cattle, a breed famous for its long horns. The group has a complex social structure, with a strong emphasis on family and community ties. Today, many Banyankole are involved in agriculture and trade, while still preserving their cultural traditions.
