Bandung Bondowoso is a character from Indonesian folklore, particularly known in the legend of Roro Jonggrang. He is depicted as a powerful prince who falls in love with Roro Jonggrang, the daughter of a king he has defeated. To win her heart, he must complete an impossible task: building a thousand temples in one night. In the story, Bandung Bondowoso enlists the help of supernatural beings to achieve this feat. However, Roro Jonggrang tricks him by asking for the impossible, leading him to fail. In his anger, he turns her into a stone statue, which is said to be the origin of the Prambanan Temple complex.
