Balrogs
Balrogs are powerful, demonic beings from J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium, primarily featured in The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion. They are known for their fiery appearance, often depicted with flames and shadow, and wielding whips made of fire. Balrogs were originally Maiar, lesser divine spirits, who were corrupted by Morgoth, the first Dark Lord.
In the stories, Balrogs serve as formidable adversaries, embodying chaos and destruction. The most famous Balrog is the one encountered by Gandalf in the Mines of Moria, known as Durin's Bane. Their presence signifies great danger and the lingering influence of dark powers in Middle-earth.
