Baldwin II of Edessa
Baldwin II of Edessa was a prominent figure in the history of the Crusader states, serving as the Count of Edessa from 1100 until his death in 1131. He was a key leader during the early years of the Crusades, helping to establish and defend the Christian stronghold in the region. His rule was marked by military campaigns against Muslim forces and efforts to strengthen the defenses of Edessa.
Baldwin II was the nephew of Baldwin I of Jerusalem, the first king of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. After the fall of Edessa in 1144, Baldwin II's legacy continued to influence the Crusader states, as his leadership set the foundation for future rulers in the region.
