Baldwin I
Baldwin I was the first King of Jerusalem, reigning from 1100 to 1118. He played a crucial role in the establishment of the Kingdom of Jerusalem after the First Crusade. Baldwin was known for his military leadership and strategic alliances, which helped secure the newly formed kingdom against various threats.
Born in 1065, Baldwin was originally Count of Edessa before ascending to the throne. His reign was marked by territorial expansion and the consolidation of power in the region. He is often remembered for his efforts to strengthen the Christian presence in the Holy Land, particularly against Muslim forces led by figures like Zengi.
