Balakirev
Balakirev was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor, born in 1837 and known for his role in the development of Russian classical music. He was a key figure in the Mighty Handful, a group of composers who sought to create a distinctly Russian style of music, drawing inspiration from folk traditions.
His most famous work is the symphonic poem "Islamey," which showcases his innovative use of rhythm and melody. In addition to composing, Balakirev was also a dedicated teacher, influencing many younger musicians, including Rimsky-Korsakov and Liadov, who would go on to shape Russian music in the 20th century.
