Bail Process
The bail process allows individuals accused of a crime to secure their release from custody while awaiting trial. When a person is arrested, a judge sets a bail amount based on the severity of the offense, flight risk, and criminal history. The accused can pay this amount directly or seek help from a bail bondsman, who charges a fee to post bail on their behalf.
Once bail is posted, the individual is released from jail but must comply with court conditions, such as attending all scheduled hearings. If they fail to appear, the court may issue a bench warrant for their arrest, and the bail amount may be forfeited.
