Baglers
The term "Baglers" refers to a faction in Norway during the late 13th century, primarily involved in a civil war known as the Bagler War. This conflict arose over the struggle for power between rival factions supporting different claimants to the Norwegian throne. The Baglers were aligned with the church and sought to establish a monarchy that favored their interests.
The Baglers opposed the Birkebeiner faction, which supported King Håkon Håkonsson. The war lasted from 1240 to 1247, resulting in significant political instability in Norway. Ultimately, the Baglers were defeated, leading to the consolidation of power under the Birkebeiner faction and the eventual unification of Norway.
