Baddeley's Model
Baddeley's Model of working memory is a cognitive framework that explains how we temporarily hold and manipulate information. It consists of four main components: the central executive, which directs attention and coordinates activities; the phonological loop, responsible for verbal and auditory information; the visuospatial sketchpad, which handles visual and spatial data; and the episodic buffer, which integrates information from different sources.
This model emphasizes that working memory is not a single entity but a system with specialized functions. Each component plays a crucial role in processing information, allowing us to perform tasks such as problem-solving, reasoning, and comprehension effectively.
