Backing Band
A "Backing Band" is a group of musicians who support a lead artist during live performances or recordings. Their role is to provide instrumental accompaniment, enhancing the overall sound and allowing the lead performer, such as a singer or soloist, to focus on their performance. Backing bands can vary in size and composition, often including instruments like guitars, drums, keyboards, and brass.
Backing bands are commonly found in various music genres, including rock, pop, and jazz. They may also be referred to as a "backup band" or "supporting band." Famous examples include the E Street Band supporting Bruce Springsteen and the Wrecking Crew, who played for numerous artists in the 1960s.
