Backchecking
Backchecking is a defensive strategy used in ice hockey to regain control of the puck after a team loses possession. When a team transitions from offense to defense, players skate back towards their own goal to prevent the opposing team from scoring. This involves quickly moving into position to block passes and shots, as well as applying pressure to the puck carrier.
Effective backchecking requires players to maintain awareness of their surroundings and communicate with teammates. By working together, players can disrupt the opposing team's offensive plays and create opportunities to regain possession of the puck, ultimately helping to protect their goalie and team.
