Babri Masjid
The Babri Masjid was a mosque located in Ayodhya, India, built in the 16th century. It was constructed during the reign of the Mughal emperor Babur and became a significant religious site for many Muslims. The mosque was situated on a site believed by some Hindus to be the birthplace of the deity Lord Rama.
In 1992, the Babri Masjid was demolished by a large group of Hindu activists, leading to widespread communal riots across India. The event sparked a long-standing legal and political dispute over the site, which remains a sensitive issue in Indian society and politics.
