BR Standard Class 7
The BR Standard Class 7 is a type of steam locomotive designed by the British Railways in the 1950s. It was part of the standardization effort to create a uniform fleet of locomotives for various services. The Class 7 locomotives were built for both passenger and freight services, featuring a 4-6-2 wheel arrangement, which provided a good balance of power and speed.
A total of 12 locomotives were constructed, with the first entering service in 1951. These engines were known for their reliability and performance, making them popular among railway operators. The design was influenced by earlier locomotives, including the LNER A4 and LMS Princess Coronation classes.
