B-36 Peacemaker
The B-36 Peacemaker was a strategic bomber developed by the Convair company for the United States Air Force. It first flew in 1946 and was designed to carry nuclear weapons during the Cold War. The aircraft was notable for its large wingspan and six piston engines, later supplemented by four jet engines, allowing it to fly long distances without refueling.
With a maximum range of over 10,000 miles, the B-36 could reach targets in the Soviet Union from bases in the United States. It served from 1949 until 1959, playing a crucial role in America's nuclear deterrent strategy during its operational years.
