Aztec Rituals
The Aztecs practiced various rituals to honor their gods and ensure the prosperity of their society. These ceremonies often included offerings, music, and dance, aimed at appeasing deities like Huitzilopochtli, the god of war, and Tlaloc, the rain god. Rituals were integral to their agricultural calendar, marking important events such as planting and harvest.
One of the most significant rituals was human sacrifice, believed to nourish the gods and maintain cosmic order. Victims, often captured warriors, were offered in elaborate ceremonies atop temples like the Templo Mayor in Tenochtitlan. These practices reflected the Aztecs' deep spiritual beliefs and their view of the interconnectedness of life and death.
