Axillary Temperature
Axillary temperature refers to the measurement of body temperature taken in the armpit. This method is often used for its convenience, especially in infants and young children. The axillary temperature is generally lower than the core body temperature, making it less accurate than other methods like oral or rectal measurements.
To take an axillary temperature, a digital thermometer is placed in the armpit, and the arm is held close to the body to ensure an accurate reading. Normal axillary temperature typically ranges from 36.1°C to 37.2°C (97°F to 99°F). It is important to follow proper techniques for reliable results.
