Automated Transfer Vehicle
The Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) is an uncrewed spacecraft developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) to deliver supplies to the International Space Station (ISS). It is designed to transport cargo, including food, water, and equipment, and can also dispose of waste from the ISS by burning up in the Earth's atmosphere.
The ATV is equipped with advanced navigation and docking systems, allowing it to autonomously approach and attach to the ISS. It has completed several successful missions since its first launch in 2008, contributing significantly to the logistics and maintenance of the ISS and supporting international space exploration efforts.
