Australian Perch
The Australian Perch, also known as Australian Bass or Macquaria novemaculeata, is a freshwater fish native to eastern Australia. It typically inhabits rivers, lakes, and estuaries, preferring areas with plenty of vegetation. This species is known for its robust body and can grow up to 60 centimeters in length.
Australian Perch are popular among anglers due to their fighting ability and taste. They primarily feed on smaller fish, insects, and crustaceans. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their habitats, as urban development and pollution pose threats to their populations.
