August Ferdinand Möbius
August Ferdinand Möbius was a German mathematician and astronomer born on November 17, 1790. He is best known for his work in topology, particularly for the invention of the Möbius strip, a one-sided surface that has fascinated mathematicians and artists alike. Möbius also contributed to the fields of geometry and number theory.
In addition to his mathematical achievements, Möbius was involved in astronomy and worked at the University of Leipzig. He published several papers and was a member of the Leipzig Academy of Sciences. Möbius passed away on September 26, 1868, leaving a lasting legacy in mathematics.
