Atrax
Atrax is a genus of spiders known for its highly venomous species, particularly Atrax robustus, commonly referred to as the Sydney funnel-web spider. These spiders are native to eastern Australia and are recognized for their distinctive funnel-shaped webs, which they construct in sheltered locations.
The venom of Atrax robustus contains a potent neurotoxin that can be dangerous to humans, but antivenom is available and has significantly reduced fatalities. These spiders are typically black or dark brown and are most active during warmer months, often found in gardens and bushland areas.
