Atomic Particles
Atomic particles are the basic building blocks of matter. They include three main types: protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are found in the nucleus, the center of an atom, while electrons orbit around this nucleus. Protons have a positive charge, neutrons are neutral, and electrons carry a negative charge.
The arrangement and number of these particles determine the properties of an element. For example, the number of protons defines the element itself, such as hydrogen with one proton or carbon with six. Understanding atomic particles is essential for studying chemistry and physics.
