Atlanta Flames
The Atlanta Flames were a professional ice hockey team based in Atlanta, Georgia. They were established in 1972 and played in the National Hockey League (NHL) until 1980. The team was named after the flames that engulfed the city during the Civil War. The Flames played their home games at the Omni Coliseum and had a loyal fan base during their time in Atlanta.
In 1980, the Flames relocated to Calgary, Alberta, becoming the Calgary Flames. The move was due to financial difficulties and a lack of adequate facilities in Atlanta. The Flames' legacy continues in Calgary, where they have won the Stanley Cup in 1989.
