Asteroid Ryugu
Asteroid Ryugu is a near-Earth asteroid located about 300 million kilometers from Earth. It is classified as a carbonaceous asteroid, which means it contains a high amount of carbon and organic materials. Ryugu has a roughly diamond-like shape and measures about 1,000 meters in diameter.
In 2018, the Hayabusa2 spacecraft, launched by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), arrived at Ryugu to study its surface and collect samples. The mission aimed to understand the asteroid's composition and the origins of water and organic materials in the solar system.
