Association of Teachers and Lecturers
The Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) is a professional organization in the United Kingdom that represents educators, including teachers and lecturers. Founded in 1884, it aims to support its members by advocating for their rights, providing professional development opportunities, and promoting high standards in education. ATL works to influence educational policy and improve working conditions for its members.
In 2017, ATL merged with the National Union of Teachers (NUT) to form the National Education Union (NEU). This merger expanded the reach and resources available to educators, allowing for a stronger collective voice in addressing issues affecting the teaching profession. The NEU continues to uphold the values and mission of both original organizations.
