Associate Nations
Associate Nations are countries that maintain a special relationship with a larger nation or organization, often enjoying certain benefits without full membership. This status allows them to participate in specific activities or agreements while retaining some degree of independence.
For example, Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States, functioning as an Associate Nation. It has its own local government and citizens are U.S. citizens, but it does not have voting representation in the U.S. Congress. This arrangement provides economic and political advantages while limiting full integration.
