Assembly of the Republic
The Assembly of the Republic is the legislative body of Portugal. It is a unicameral parliament, meaning it has only one chamber, and is responsible for making laws, approving the budget, and overseeing the government. Members of the Assembly, known as deputies, are elected by the public every four years.
The Assembly consists of 230 deputies who represent various political parties. It meets in Lisbon and plays a crucial role in the democratic process of the country. The Assembly also has the power to approve or reject government proposals and to hold the government accountable for its actions.
