Assembly Of First Nations
The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is a national advocacy organization in Canada that represents First Nations. It was established in 1982 to promote the rights and interests of Indigenous peoples, focusing on issues such as governance, education, and health. The AFN works to ensure that the voices of First Nations are heard in discussions with the federal government and other stakeholders.
The AFN is led by a National Chief and is composed of representatives from various First Nations across Canada. It aims to strengthen the relationship between First Nations and the Canadian government, advocating for policies that respect the treaties and rights of Indigenous peoples.
