Assamese Festivals
Assamese festivals are vibrant celebrations that reflect the rich culture and traditions of the state of Assam in India. One of the most significant festivals is Bihu, which marks the Assamese New Year and is celebrated with music, dance, and feasting. It occurs three times a year: Bohag Bihu in April, Kongali Bihu in October, and Magh Bihu in January.
Another important festival is Bohag Bihu, which signifies the arrival of spring and the harvest season. During this time, people engage in traditional dances like Bihu dance, wear colorful attire, and prepare special dishes. These festivals foster community spirit and showcase the unique heritage of the Assamese people.
