Asma Jahangir
Asma Jahangir was a prominent Pakistani human rights lawyer and activist, known for her unwavering commitment to social justice. Born on January 27, 1952, she co-founded the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and worked tirelessly to advocate for the rights of women, minorities, and marginalized communities in Pakistan.
Throughout her career, Jahangir faced numerous challenges, including arrests and threats, but remained steadfast in her mission. She served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief and received several awards for her contributions to human rights, including the Right Livelihood Award in 2014.
