Asimina Triloba
Asimina triloba, commonly known as the pawpaw, is a small deciduous tree native to the eastern United States. It produces large, greenish-yellow fruits that have a creamy texture and a sweet flavor, often compared to banana or mango. The tree typically grows between 15 to 30 feet tall and thrives in rich, well-drained soil.
The pawpaw tree is unique for its large, dark green leaves and its ability to tolerate shade, making it suitable for understory growth in forests. It is also notable for its flowers, which are brownish-purple and bloom in early spring. Asimina triloba is the only member of the Annonaceae family found in North America.
