Asian koel
The Asian koel is a medium-sized bird belonging to the cuckoo family, known for its distinctive call. Males are glossy black with bright red eyes, while females are brown and speckled, providing excellent camouflage. This bird is commonly found in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and parts of Australia.
Asian koels are often associated with the arrival of the monsoon season, as they are known for their loud, melodious calls. They primarily feed on fruits, especially figs, and are also known to consume insects. The female lays her eggs in the nests of other birds, a behavior typical of cuckoos.
