Asalha Puja
Asalha Puja is a significant Buddhist festival celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Asalha, usually in July. It commemorates the first sermon given by Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha, after his enlightenment. This sermon, called the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, introduced the core teachings of Buddhism, including the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path.
During Asalha Puja, Buddhists engage in various religious activities such as meditation, chanting, and attending temple services. Many also make offerings to monks and participate in community gatherings. The day serves as a reminder of the Buddha's teachings and the importance of following the path to enlightenment.
