Arundo Donax
Arundo donax, commonly known as giant reed, is a tall perennial grass that can grow up to 20 feet in height. It has long, slender stems and feathery flower clusters that appear in late summer. This plant is native to the Mediterranean region but has spread to many parts of the world, often thriving in wetlands and along riverbanks.
Giant reed is known for its rapid growth and ability to tolerate various soil conditions. While it can be used for erosion control and as a source of biomass, it is also considered an invasive species in some areas, outcompeting native plants and disrupting local ecosystems.
