Armistice Day
Armistice Day is observed on November 11 each year to commemorate the end of World War I. The armistice, which was a formal agreement to stop fighting, was signed between the Allies and Germany in 1918. This day marks the moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front, leading to the eventual signing of the Treaty of Versailles.
Originally known as Armistice Day, the holiday has evolved in many countries to honor all military veterans. In the United States, it is now celebrated as Veterans Day, recognizing the service of all U.S. military personnel, while other nations may refer to it as Remembrance Day.
