Argentinosaurus was a massive dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 94 to 97 million years ago. It is considered one of the largest land animals ever, with estimates suggesting it could reach lengths of up to 100 feet (30 meters) and weigh as much as 100 tons. This herbivorous dinosaur belonged to the group known as sauropods, characterized by their long necks and tails.
Fossils of Argentinosaurus were discovered in Argentina, which is how it got its name. Its long neck allowed it to reach high vegetation, while its large body provided protection from predators. Despite its size, it likely moved in herds, which may have helped with social interaction and defense against threats.
