Areca catechu
Areca catechu, commonly known as the betel nut palm, is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. It typically grows to a height of 20 to 30 meters and has a slender trunk with feathery leaves. The tree produces small, round fruits that contain seeds, which are often chewed for their stimulant effects.
The seeds of Areca catechu are commonly used in traditional practices, particularly in combination with betel leaf and slaked lime. This mixture is popular in many cultures for its psychoactive properties. Additionally, the palm is cultivated for its ornamental value and as a source of palm wine in some regions.
