Arctic Climate
The Arctic climate is characterized by extremely cold temperatures, especially during the winter months. Average winter temperatures can drop below -30°C (-22°F), while summer temperatures may reach around 10°C (50°F) in some areas. The region experiences long periods of darkness in winter and continuous daylight in summer, known as the midnight sun.
Precipitation in the Arctic is low, primarily falling as snow. The sea ice that covers the Arctic Ocean plays a crucial role in regulating global temperatures and supporting unique ecosystems. Climate change is causing significant melting of this ice, impacting wildlife and local communities.
