Archabbot
An Archabbot is the title given to the head of an abbey in the Benedictine monastic tradition. This leader oversees the spiritual and administrative functions of the abbey, guiding the community of monks in their religious practices and daily life. The role is similar to that of an abbot, but the title of archabbot is typically used for abbeys that are part of a larger congregation or federation.
Archabbots are often involved in broader church governance and may represent their abbey in various ecclesiastical matters. They are responsible for maintaining the traditions of the Rule of Saint Benedict, which emphasizes community living, prayer, and work. The position is significant in promoting the values and mission of the Benedictine order.
