Anxious-Resistant
Anxious-Resistant, also known as Ambivalent Attachment, is a type of insecure attachment style observed in children. Children with this attachment style often display clinginess and anxiety when separated from their primary caregiver. They may become very upset when the caregiver leaves but show ambivalence upon their return, seeking closeness while also resisting comfort.
This attachment style typically develops when caregivers are inconsistent in their responses to a child's needs. As a result, the child learns to be anxious about the availability of the caregiver, leading to confusion in their emotional responses. Understanding this attachment style can help in addressing emotional and relational challenges later in life.
