Antibacterial Soaps
Antibacterial soaps are cleaning products designed to reduce or prevent bacterial infections on the skin. They contain specific chemical agents, such as triclosan or triclocarban, that target and kill bacteria. These soaps are often marketed for their ability to provide extra protection compared to regular soaps.
However, studies have raised concerns about the effectiveness of antibacterial soaps compared to traditional soap and water. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that there is no significant evidence that antibacterial soaps are more effective in preventing illness than regular soaps. Additionally, overuse of these products may contribute to antibiotic resistance.
