Anterior Tibial Artery
The Anterior Tibial Artery is a major blood vessel in the lower leg. It branches off from the Popliteal Artery, which is located behind the knee. This artery travels down the front of the leg, supplying oxygenated blood to the muscles and tissues in the area.
As it continues toward the ankle, the Anterior Tibial Artery eventually becomes the Dorsalis Pedis Artery, which supplies blood to the top of the foot. Proper blood flow through this artery is essential for maintaining healthy leg function and mobility.
