Anne Of Cleves
Anne of Cleves was a German princess born in 1515, known for her marriage to King Henry VIII of England. Their union was politically motivated, aimed at strengthening ties between England and the Holy Roman Empire. The marriage took place in January 1540 but was short-lived, as Henry found Anne unattractive and sought an annulment just six months later.
After the annulment, Anne received a generous settlement and was given the title of the King’s beloved sister. She remained in England, enjoying a comfortable life and maintaining a friendly relationship with Henry, who referred to her as a sister until his death in 1547.
